I'm a Chinese indie developer. Over the years I've helped dozens of foreign friends navigate their first days in China — setting up payments, finding SIM cards, ordering food, figuring out maps. This site is everything I tell them, written down.
Most English-language China guides are written by people who visited once, or by travel companies selling tours. They miss the details that actually matter when you land: which Alipay button to press, why the taxi driver can't find your hotel, how to read a restaurant menu when there's no English anywhere.
As a developer, I can also explain the "why" behind Chinese systems — why everything runs on QR codes, why Google Maps is wrong about China, how mini programs replaced apps most foreigners have never heard of. This isn't a travel blog. It's a technical guide to landing in a country that runs on different infrastructure.
